Thoughts on things

Here’s another foolhardy attempt at increasing the number of posts on my blag above the number of plugins. So far, it seems like a battle I really can win! (That this is an issue at all, however, i think says a lot about me.)

So what am I actually writing about today? Mostly, it’s just to clear my confused head about what to do next.

Time seems to fly (or at least to fall with style (10 points for reference)). The semester’s almost over (man, I was supposed to write this post a loong time ago!), and with regard to my studies, it’s been my worst one yet — I simply haven’t done anything school-related at all.

Why is this? To quote Peter Gibbons in Office Space: It’s not that I’m lazy, it’s just that I don’t care. I’m having a really hard time focusing on and engaging in subjects that I don’t find interesting and relevant to me, and this makes me feel like the worst student in the world. Most other students don’t seem to have this problem — I see them sitting several hours every day, reading about stuff that would never interest them in other situations.

I’ve managed to finish my bachelor’s degree in computer science. This fall I was supposed to start working towards my master’s, but being honest with myself, I’ll probably never finish it. What’s most tempting right now is to just quit my studies, and get a job of some sorts. I’m certain that I have enough knowledge and experience with the things I do (and love doing) to be a valuable contribution to someone somewhere, it’s just a question of finding out where. So far I’ve found a few places that seem promising, and I’m on the lookout for more opportunities.

So I guess we’ll see.
